TheOfficeofEarlyIntervention(EI)providesevidence-basedcoachingsupports&servicestoinfants/toddlers(birthtoage3)andtheirfamilieswhenchildrenareexperiencingadevelopmentaldelayorhaveadiagnosisthatresultsindevelopmentaldelay.
Thesupportsandservicesareatnocosttoeligibleinfants,toddlers,andtheirfamilies.TheOfficeofEarlyInterventionispartofastatewideEarlyInterventionsystemunderthedirectionofthestateBureauofEarlyIntervention,OfficeofChildDevelopmentandEarlyLearning.
ServicesWeProvide
EarlyInterventionprovidesScreening
EvaluationandAssessmenttodetermineeligibilityandwheneligibleforEarlyIntervention,infants,toddlers,andfamiliesincollaborationwithprofessionalsdevelopanindividualizedfamilyserviceplan(IFSP)thatoutlinesthefamily'sconcerns,priorities,andchild'sinterestsandactivities.
Supportsandresourcesarethenidentifiedtoassistthefamilyinenhancingtheirchild'slearninganddevelopment.
Weprovideservicesthataddresschilddevelopmentin:
- Physicaldevelopment
- Speechandlanguagedevelopment
- Socialandemotionaldevelopment
- Adaptivedevelopment
- Cognitivedevelopment
EligibilityCriteria
- Childrenagebirthto3areeligibleforservicesiftheyhave:
- 25%delayinoneormoreareaofdevelopment
- Aspecialist’sdeterminationthatthereisadelaynotmeasuredbyavailableassessments,andthedelayresultsinfunctionallimitationsofthechild’sdailyactivity
- Knownphysicalormentalconditionswhichhaveahighprobabilityforeligibledevelopmentaldelays
- Childrennoteligiblemayqualifyforfollow-uptracking.Childreneligiblefortrackingare:
- Birthweightunder1500grams(about3½pounds)
- Caredforinneonatalintensivecareunits,orborntochemicallydependentmothers
- Seriouslyabusedorneglected(substantiated)
- Confirmedtohavedangerouslevelsofleadpoisoning.

EarlyinterventionservicecoordinationisamandatedserviceunderPartCofIndividualswithDisabilitiesEducationAct(IDEA),providedatnocosttofamilies.
Servicecoordinationisdefinedasanactive,ongoingprocessthatassistsandenablesfamiliestoaccessservicesandassurestheirrightsandproceduralsafeguards.
